Wireless Hotspots

With access comes responsibility. The main problem in allowing customers access via a wireless system is not to connect them, but making sure they can be disconnected!

A building's structure cannot restrict a network's access, unless this network is switched off. Once intruders get hold of a WEP or WPA key, they are able to connect at will, often without even being on the premises.

HYLAS is a hybrid Ka Band/Ku Band satellite with European coverage. The satellite will be used mainly to provide broadband Internet access and to distribute and broadcast High Definition Television (HDTV).

Should you be unable to access broadband internet via your telephone or cable supplier, you will still be able to benefit from high speed internet access. Satellite broadband operates in a similar fashion to satellite television and costs far less than a leased telephone line.

PC Surgeon has teamed up with Avanti communications to bring satellite broadband to rural businesses and homes that find themselves too far from a telephone exchange to be able to get ADSL broadband access - accessing broadband services via a satellite may sometimes be the only option. It represents surprisingly good value and in many cases, the regional development agencies (R.D.A.) will partially fund its installation. As a result this revolutionary system may be comparable in cost to that of a normal broadband service.
